Guide To Choosing The Outdoor Furniture For Your Garden

As summer approaches, so does our desire to spend more time in the garden. There are many ways to enjoy your outdoor space. You can have a family dinner, a meal with friends, or just relax in the sunshine. It is important to select the right outdoor furniture to match the style of your garden, patio, or terrace.

To consider

These are the questions you need to ask before making a purchase.

What amount of space do you have?

The space available is an important aspect to consider. What space do you have? Is it a patio, a garden or balcony? There are always options to adapt to any space, no matter how small or large. It is important to know the dimensions of the space.

What furniture will you use?

It is important to consider how furniture will be used and the uses for which space it will be used. If we think about what we are going to use the furniture for, it will help us to choose the right furniture. For example, if we have to eat outdoors, we will need a dining table. But, if we wish to relax, we will need an armchair or sofa.

What maintenance are they going to need?

Outdoor time should be spent enjoying the space and not worrying about furniture maintenance. To minimize maintenance, outdoor furniture should be easy to maintain. Structures with epoxy treatments on metals will provide greater protection from oxidation and UV radiations. Water-repellent or waterproof textiles with UV protection are two examples of important aspects to consider. We must consider the climate and the type of weather it will be used in when evaluating our options.

How to store furniture

When furniture isn’t in use, it is important to consider how to store it. The majority of furniture can be stored outside. However, it is best to keep it indoors during winter and in bad weather. You should consider furniture that can fold or stack, and furniture that can be disassembled so that you can store them in a smaller space. It is worth purchasing a weather-resistant cover for furniture that will protect it from the elements if we have limited storage space.

Which materials are best for outdoor furniture?

There are many options for garden furniture, including metal, wood and rattan.

Wooden outdoor furniture

This is a popular choice for gardens and terraces. They are durable and have a natural appearance. However, since they don’t retain heat, it is not recommended to be too hot in summer. Wooden garden furniture is durable but requires care. To protect them from the cold and harsh weather, oil should be applied to their wood garden furniture. Teak hardwoods can be cleaned using warm soapy water. Waxy woods, such as teak, require a soft, dry cloth.

Rattan outdoor furniture

There are two types of it: synthetic and natural. Natural is the most popular material for garden furniture. It has a timeless, natural, and relaxed look. Rattan, a thin cane variety that grows in humid regions of Asia and Africa, has been used for furniture making for many centuries. It can be cut into strips and interwoven in many different patterns. You can stain or paint rattan to make it more durable.

Natural rattan is safe to be used outdoors, but it must be kept in a closed container or covered to avoid moisture.

Synthetic rattan is another option. It is usually made from polyethylene resin (PE), but other materials include polyurethane and polyvinyl chloride. It is lighter than natural rattan and is waterproof. The most common type of rattan is flat-woven, but you can also find it in wide, semi-round and full-round weaves.

Metal outdoor furniture

Metal furniture is an excellent choice if you want garden furniture that is strong and easy to maintain. There are many styles to choose from, including modern and classic. Metal garden furniture is durable and requires very little maintenance. It can be washed with soap and water only occasionally.

Which outdoor furniture should you choose?

We must choose the right type of garden furniture for our needs.

Dining sets

You can find tables that seat 6-12 people, or bistro sets that are small enough to serve 2 people. You can save space by choosing a compact, elegant and portable table and chair. Next, consider the shape.

Rest set

You can enjoy all the comforts and benefits of indoors while still enjoying the outdoors. There are many combinations available depending on your needs. It can be used as a reading or relaxation area, or even to chat with friends.

Complete your furniture with accessories

To enjoy the outdoors in comfort, you may need to add pieces to your garden furniture.

Garden Benches: These benches are great for porches and other unusual corners, maximising seating space. There are many styles available to fit all tastes: metal with minimalist designs for modern gardens, or traditional wood for classic gardens.

Hammocks or Loungers: These are great places to relax, read, or enjoy the pool. You can choose between 1 or 2 seats that are straight or reclining, folding, or with wheels to make it move more easily. This gives you total comfort and elegant look.

Umbrellas, Umbrella Bases, and Gazebos: Protect yourself from the sun while you enjoy summer’s warmth. A gazebo or umbrella can provide additional protection for lounging or eating in direct sunlight. The most popular model is the center post umbrella. However, offset arm and cantilever umbrellas come in a hinged or arched post to support the canopy from both the sides and the top. This is a great option if you need shade to cover a seating area. You can choose from a variety of sizes, shapes and colors to fit your needs. Gazebos and gazebos provide maximum protection as we can cover our area with mosquito nets and curtains to keep out insects, wind, and water.

Outdoor Textiles: Recent technological advances have made it possible to sell quick-drying outdoor rugs, cushions and other textiles. To tie your outdoor space together, choose colors and patterns that match the decor and furniture.

Table Lamps and Lanterns: Add warmth and natural light to your night with table lamps or lanterns. You can choose from solar, battery-operated, or candles. Find the one that suits you best.

Your outdoor space can be transformed into a place you love to gather with friends or alone.
